  • Back Pedaling

    wow.

it's been forever since I've been on here. well, not quite forever..but long enough to forget about it I suppose.

I've changed so much just being back on xanga feels like I'm back pedaling.

So weird. Anyway, my location has changed..I'll have to get on that.

    I have my own car.

    Jesus is still my forever.

And apparently everyone I used to be friends with on here are getting married or already have. (yay ya'll! :)

That's it. For now. I might be back later.

  • Sent this to a friend..but it's too good to keep

A taxi passenger tapped the driver on the shoulder to ask him a question. The driver screamed, lost control of the car, nearly hit a bus, went up on the footpath, and stopped centimetres from a shop window. For a second everything went quiet in the cab, then the driver said, "Look mate, don't ever do that again. You scared the daylights out of me!"

The passenger apologized and said, "I didn't realize that a little tap would scare you so much." The driver replied, "Sorry, it's not really your fault. Today is my first day as a cab driver - I've been driving a funeral van for the last 25 years.

  • Support Letter For Columbia

    July 13th, 2007

    Hello there,

In case you don’t remember who I am or you just didn’t know in the first place, my name is Lisa Stallings, daughter of Edward & Janice, granddaughter of Bettie Nowak & Esther Stallings. Up until June of 2005, I had lived in Willis, Texas and was actively involved with a church by the name of Grace International. While attending there I participated in almost everything from the drama ministry, helping out in the nursery, and even the occasional mission trips to Mexico, one over a Christmas holiday. Little did I know, my life would soon be a mission trip using drama to preach and teach the gospel of Jesus Christ in the streets and encourage the church, helping them out in anyway possible.

What made this all possible is a ministry by the name of New Life Drama Company, based out of Cleveland, Tennessee. Compiled of close to 30 full time students, they send teams out regionally across the United States (with the exception of Alaska and Hawaii, as of right now) every ten weeks. We go into churches, prisons, nursing homes, homeless shelters, daycares, camps, the streets, detention facilities, basically anywhere that could present an audience, to preach the word of God through sketch drama and help out in any way that we can, whether it be through canvassing a neighborhood with flyers and tracks, painting and cleaning the entire church, or preparing thanksgiving dinner!

Through each of these different venues of ministering the gospel, I’ve seen so many lives changed. For instance, while at a church in southern California, I had the immense blessing to lead nine young girls to Christ after a service. Another time, my team and I had the opportunity to do a service in Virginia. Before the service however, we discouraged by how reticent the youth were. As we entered into worship that evening, we prayed over the service and the hearts of the youth we were attempting to reach. I’ll never forget the response that evening. We got to pray for each of them-one young man was freed of guilt he had grown up with, believing he was responsible for his mother’s death, another young man completely rededicated his life to Jesus and the change was so obvious-it was beautiful! I personally prayed with a girl who was struggling with cutting, it was evident her heart had begun a healing process that evening. Before leaving that evening, a team member and myself prayed with three friends who knew some friends in abusive relationships. All three of them purposed that evening and agreed to reach out to and pray for  them more frequently.

Not only do we want to go across the United States with the gospel in this fashion, but we want to take it to everyone, everywhere, ministering to the glory of God! And we have that opportunity coming up in November. I will be going with a team to Metagene, Columbia in the last week of November through the first week of December. Out of the fourteen days we will be there, twelve of those will have scheduled services! (So you can imagine it will be pretty busy! J) We’ll even get to present theses sketches in the national stadium! How amazing is that? To top this all off, we aren’t just going to be doing mimes or music videos over there, but we are going to learn the sketches in Spanish, translated by a lady who is actually from that area. I know the people over there are expecting great things and so are we! J

I would appreciate from the bottom of my heart your earnest prayers on my behalf. In order to make myself on hand for these trips, I will need at least $225 in finances by August 27th(to keep me on the road with NLDC and pay for my mission transportation). I trust to see God's provision in this area. 'A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.' (Galatians 6:7-10) If you would like to be a part of what is going on and sow into this style of expanding the kingdom of God with finances; checks can be made out to myself or to New Life Drama Company (which is tax deductible), in the memo put for Lisa Stallings' Missions (the ministry has also provided a paypal account via my cast page found at http://www.nldc.com/cast/lstallings.html, be sure to mention for whom it is). Anything given helps a great deal, even spare change.  If you cannot help financially, that is fine, just please remember to keep the rest of the ministry and myself in your continued prayers. It means a great deal to us all with everything that we do on a daily basis.

Thank you so much for your time and consideration in this aspect of my life with this ministry. May God bless you in unfathomable ways! J

                                                     In Christ,

                                                              Lisa Stallings

  • I'm listening to my favorite cd ever. (For those of you who don't know, that would be Paul Wright's cd Fly Away, given to my by my friend Daniel who is getting married in December..not that anyone here but myself cares about that).

Wow. So, God really opened my eyes this week. As far as my heart is concerned. (yes, sometimes we go around in circles over this particular object). But seriously, I was singing this song and the lines were something like "I'm letting go" over and over and over...and over. Well, eventually my mind was like, Um, what exactly am I letting go of? And the distint reply was 'your heart'. So many times  we hear about giving God our hearts...but this time it was letting it go and I didn't understand at first because typically letting go means being careless. But I realized as new creatures in Christ, our hearts desire to be identical to Him. There are so many things I've kept my heart from, certian things I say, that restrict my heart. A lot of us hold on to things that cause us to kept our hearts from things. We experience hurts, disappointments..and we keep them, even just subconsciously sometimes. Where else do degrading jokes come from? If our hearts were being allowed to be everything they want to be, we wouldn't want to say those. But we hold them back. We keep ourselves from being everything we want to be. So. That was interesting.

I'm going to Columbia. Don't know if I've mentioned that on here yet, but it's so exciting! We'll be going in November for two weeks to Metagene. We'll be doing 12 services (super busy) and some stuff in the National stadium! How cool is that? On top of that, we'll be doing the sketches in spanish which will be a lot of work. And the best news is that I only have to raise $275. Which..has dropped by $25 in the last week, praise God. Anyway..that's my tidbit of the month.

Love. And Thoughts. Lots of them. and all of them genuine.

    Lisa
